Welcome to CryptoArt Sundays! This week I present you with the marvelous artist Samira Ingold, also knows as ra.in. Samira’s artworks are powerful illustrations evoking a sense of psychedelia mixed with a super cool retro look.
She is based in Bern, Switzerland. Her artworks are loved around the world, with over 46k followers on Instagram, and she also plays an active role in the CryptoArt community. I absolutely love her unique style of work and her signature style can be immediately recognized. Samira’s artworks are also available in the form of prints, stickers and bags.
Now let’s dive in and see what she has to say about her experience of the NFT art community!
How did you find out about the NFT space, and what attracted you to create your own NFTs?
I found out about NFTs and blockchain in general due a friend back in February this year. After that I did a lot of research on it and decided to give it a shot.
How often do you create?
Almost everyday, when my day job is allowing it. During winter I have way more time 🙂
What is your creative process?
Depends. Often I have some specific ideas in my head. Then I start thumbnailing until I’m satisfied with the composition, and from there it’s more detailed sketch -> lineart -> color. Doesn’t matter if digital or traditional, the steps are the same. It happens too, that it’s the opposite. I’m sketching, and then the idea starts to unwrap itself. 🙂
Are there any CryptoArtists you would love to collaborate with?
Oh, there are several! Spontaneously coming to my mind are Matt Griffin, Anthony Ventura, Carolina Rodriguez Fuenmayor. I really love their work. I already had the honour to work with Jaen and Ben Baret. Both are outstanding artists, and it was a pure joy to collab with them!
What do you think the future of CryptoArt will look like?
It can go in several directions. I’m not very good at speculating. At the moment there are projects over projects, marketplaces are sprouting like flowers in spring. Many people joining the space, some maybe just to explore and others are hoping for quick money and then they leave again. It’s not easy to keep the overview, everything moves at lightning speed. 😉 The space is amazing. So many supportive and kind-hearted human beings, with good ideas and big visions as well. I enjoy the ride.
What are you currently working on?
I started to work on a new series, but it’s very early stage. There are some other projects, that will have to stay a secret for a while.
Where can collectors find your work?
For now on Foundation, KnownOrigin and OpenSea, as well as Tezos and Hic et Nunc.
